The Carers Association is
Ireland`s national voluntary organisation for and of family carers in the home. Carers provide high levels of care to a wide range of people, including the elderly, disabled, terminally ill and children with special needs. Established in 1987, the association advocates on behalf of all carers.
Today, the Carers Association has 16 resource centres and two service projects from which it delivers a variety of services. It has become the PJT “charity of choice”, and together we have participated in several initiatives, most recently a local campaign in
Limerick city. Entitled “what caring means to me”, it took the form of a colouring competition for school children.
We also helped launch their national “Carer of the Year Awards” earlier this year.
